Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Is God the main focus in our families, and especially in our homes? Attending regular church services is very important, but that in itself is not enough in our day and time to “Keep God in the Family”.
Considering that we will typically only spend about 6% of our time in a church building each week, what influences us the other 94%? Does God feel welcome in our homes? Do you spend time as a family in daily prayer and devotions?
Did you know that the greatest percentage of our time is spent in the home, and the least amount of time is spent in church? We have the greatest impact on the lives of our children and spouses, and that is how God designed it, "And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up".
I urge you today to make that commitment to put God back into the home through family prayer time, bible reading, and devotions. Because if we don’t use our God given time to influence our families, I guarantee you that the devil and worldly influences will!
